I joined L to the 5th once again at their midnight premier of Ted and Magic Mike. No I did not make it to Magic Mike but my wife did and she loved it. Anyways back to Ted, I love it when ensembles stick together from project to project just like Adam Sandler’s crew Seth Macfarlane brings all his buddy’s from Family Guy and I’m pretty sure he even brought his orchestra to play the movie score. It’s great to keep a cast together that already works well and knows each other’s. Everyone gets at least one good joke in except for a silent cameo from Ryan Reynolds but is just a funny.
Now from watching the trailers you can clearly hear the “Peter Griffin” voice in Ted and although it’s very similar you complete forget about Peter Griffin and start believing Ted is a real and its own character. From the very start you fall in love with Ted and the companionship him and John (Mark Walhberg) share. Mark Walhberg and Mila Kunis play a couple in a long term relationship that are trying to take the next step but Kunis’ character feels that Ted is in the way. I felt the chemistry between Kunis and Walhberg wasn’t as strong as Walhberg and Ted, but that could be from the characters development. Not to say they were bad at their roles, I enjoyed watching Mila Kunisplay the real girlfriend that you could see dating.
What makes this movie a contender for Comedy of the Year is Ted himself. He is lovable, dirty, sarcastic, and loyal. Even as you see him smoking and drinking you are still smiling and wishing you had a Ted of your own. The best scene of the movie has to be the party scene at Ted’s apartment where none other but Flash Gordon arrives and being Mark Walhberg and Ted’s childhood hero they can’t resist partying and going on a wild trip with the hunky hero. This movie is a must see especially if you are a fan of Family Guy. All the same humor is here, a great cast and a lovable character. There is even an ending that has a nice heart string pulling scene to wrap up and pull everything together. I give this movie 4 teddy bears out of 5 |

you’re the man dude!!!!! How can I be more like you?!?!?!
I saw both over the weekend and while as I woman I enjoyed Magic Mike, TED rocked.
The choice of Markie Mark had me wondering but after seeing the movie – great choice.
The hubs was asking me if I wanted to go see this movie… though I can’t say I’m a big Family Guy fan, I have a feeling getting me to see Ted would be easier than trying to get him to see Magic Mike…
