The Avengers Plot

When Earth is threatened by Loki and his army of alien invaders Nick Fury, the director of S.H.E.I.L.D, assembles a team of heroes to face Loki head on and stop him from taking over and enslaving Earth. The team is called the The Avengers and it’s comprised of the Hulk, Ironman, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and of course Loki’s brother Thor.

Overview

Loki asks Thanos for help taking over Earth so Thanos gives him his army to aide Loki in his global conquest. While all of this is happening Nick Fury is recruiting Ironman, Thor and The Hulk to help him fight Loki and keep him from enslaving Earth. Since there is no open portal linking Earth to the other end of the universe Loki must steal the Cosmic Cube or The Tesseract to make a portal that will allow him and his newly acquired army passage to Earth. Once acquired Loki opens a portal and unleashes chaos upon Earth and it’s up to The Avengers to stop him.

This movie comes out on May 4th but I was able to see it early and let me be the first to say it was amazingly good. The amount of time that went in to making this movie is evident throughout the entire movie and the acting was incredible. One of the things I liked about the movie was the comedic add-ins that kept the movie from getting dull or boring when there where gaps between fight scenes.

To me the person who helped cast the movie did an amazing job a getting the right people for each individual character because everyone fit their role perfectly whether it be The Hulk, Ironman, or even Black Widow. Another plus is that some directors like to shove in many different villains into one movie and in The Avengers there was one clear enemy, Loki. They didn’t want you focusing on following multiple villains and what they were doing at all times, they just wanted one main bad guy for you to have to follow.

When you go to see the movie May 4th you will have the option to see it regular or in 3D just like almost every movie made now a days. In my opinion im not a fan of 3D movies as much as some people are but I liked it in this movie because they didn’t go overboard and make it seem like 3D was their only focus, they actually just shot a great film that just happen to go to 3D. I love almost every super hero movie, besides a select few, I see and this one has got to be one of the best made for the Marvel franchise.

Another thing that made the movie amazing didn’t actually have to do with the movie itself but with the audience in the theater. Everyone I was with truly loved the Marvel comics and all of the movies leading up to this and that was clear because once the movie started the whole theater clapped, when The Avengers assembled in a circle in New York there was clapping, and once the movie was done there was clapping. The emotion and buzz everyone was giving off throughout the movie made it that much more enjoyable for me. Over all this movie is incredible and I will definitely be seeing again at midnight when it officially comes out May 4th.

Characters

Bruce Banner/The HulkBruce Banner is always experiencing actor changes and this time it’s Mark Ruffalo who plays Bruce Banner and his giant green counterpart in The Avengers movie. At first I didn’t like the new choice for Bruce Banner but I was pleasantly surprised on his performance in the movie and I’m glad that they casted him to play Bruce Banner. He did a very good job in his role and gave Tony Stark a run for his money as my favorite character throughout the entire movie.

IronmanTony Stark is once again played by Robert Downy Jr. and once again he did an amazing job as Ironman. Right from the first Ironman movie I knew he was going to be the perfect fit for Tony Stark and in The Avengers he didn’t disappoint. Throughout the movie he brought his witty comments and humor everywhere he went whether he was in a suit or not. Stark and Banner are easily the two most enjoyable characters in the movie

HawkeyeHawkeye is a trained assassin that works for S.H.E.I.L.D and is played by Jeremy Renner. As a master at the bow, Hawkeye is put in positions where he’s able to see everything that is going on and make the impossible shots that are needed to help the team. He wasn’t a standout in your face kind of character but he definitely didn’t fall back and blend in into the background. Without him in the movie many different things could not have happened; so without him the movie would have to progress in a different way.

Black Widow – Another special agent for S.H.E.I.L.D, Black Widow is highly trained assassin, like Hawkeye, but is trained in hand to hand combat and different forms of martial arts. She had the task of helping assemble The Avengers and fighting alongside them when the time came for her assistance. Scarlett Johansson was casted as Black Widowand she did a pretty good job throughout the movie by deceiving people, killing people, and being an all around B.A without any special type of super powers or special equipment.

Captain America

Captain AmericaCaptain America or Steven Rogers is once again played by Chris Evans in The Avengers and is placed in a time period way ahead of his time due to the fact that he was in a placed in a cryogenic state because he crashed a plane into the frozen waters of the Arctic. Some people, including me, thought that Captain America would be a little bit darker in this movie because of the fact that everyone he knew and loved is dead but he didn’t show any signs of this in the movie besides in the beginning when he’s punching a punching bag. As Captain America he naturally takes charge of The Avengers and helps put them where their powers and abilities are need the most in order to help fight Loki and his army. The only problem with Captain America I have is that they casted Chris Evens who also plays The Human Torch in the Fantastic Four. This means that if they ever wanted to include these two in the same movie they wouldn’t be able to unless they changes out one of the characters actor. Other than that I thought he did a great job playing the leader of the team

ThorThor is comes back to Earth to retrieve Loki and take him back to Asgard but is soon recruited by S.H.E.I.L.D and put on The Avengers team. Thor gets in many fights with the other heroes like Captain America, Ironman, and The Hulk but is able to hold his own and usually come out unscathed. Throughout the movie Thor seems to be more lenient towards his brother until he realizes that all he wants is chaos and destruction which makes Thor angrier with him forcing him to fight him. Thor and Hulk get in a brawl which ends with no clear winner but later in the movie The Hulk doesn’t forget the fight and sucker punches Thor which lit up the audience and made everyone laugh. Chris Hemsworth who plays Thor does a great job once again playing the Nordic god of thunder throughout the entire movie.

Loki – As Thor’s brother Loki comes to Earth with a plan to take it over and rule it as king. Tom Hiddleston is casted as the evil Loki once again and as the main villain in The Avengers he does a really good job making everyone hate him and making sure everyone knows that he’s the bad guy everywhere he goes. To me they did a good job with the casting of Loki because Tom Hiddleston just fits the Loki figure and character just like Robert Downy Jr. fits Tony Stark.

Confirmed Rumors and Details

Chitauri

Before the movie was released there was a ton of rumors floating around the web predicting who the villains where going to be and other things like that.

  1. One of the first rumors I want to put to rest is that Red Skull is a villain in The Avengers that helps Loki with the task of defeating the heroic team. For all of you that wanted to see him in it I’m sorry to say that he isn’t in the movie at all.
  2. Another rumor was that the Skrull’s, which were controlled by Thanos, where going to be in the movie but they had a name change in order to avoid legal issues is only partially true. The army Loki receives is in fact given to him by Thanos but they aren’t the shape shifting Skrulls, instead they’re called the Chitauri and they seem to be like some sort of cyborg like alien rather than the shape shifting ones everyone was expecting.
  3. People where speculating that Thanos had to be a key player in the movie and once again this is only partially true. In the beginning Thanos gives the Chitauri to Loki which is a big deal but you don’t see Thanos for the entire movie until the end after they show some credits. With Marvel showing Thanos at the end opens up the possibility for another Avengers movie that will have him as the more primary villain.

Conclusion

All in all I was really excited to go see this movie when I watched the first trailer for it and once I went to see it I wasn’t let down at all. This movie exceeded all of my expectations that I had set for it and it actually went beyond what I was expecting to see. I’m not advising you to see it if you have nothing to do or say you may want to watch this I’m telling you that you need to go see this movie because it is by far the best movie I’ve seen this year. I would easily rate this a 9 out of 10 because of the great casting, characters, story line, and being a solid movie in ever way I can think of.
